Launching of JCI Manila "Sea of Life" program

Last August 19, 2012 JCI invited the media and government representatives and philippine coastguard to witness the launching of the Sea of Life program.

JCI Manila President, Mr. Rodney Dizon promised to deliver 20 solar lights and 50 artificial coral reefs to Kamudmud.
Two guest speakers were asked to share insights on the sea of life program. Guest Consultant & resource person, Mr. Chris Dearne, from England who resided in General Santos City since 1992 as a hotel owner & diving instructor talks about locally made artificial domes that will serve as coral reefs to fishes.

He had been planting artificial domes as coral reefs in general santos for 3 years already from Malakas to Maitum for more than 5000 domes and still counting. His encouraging everyone to support his advocacy by buying a shirt worth P500 with a caption "Donate a Dome" Save the reefs and you also own your own artificial dome as fish habitat.

Honorable Miguel Zubiri, Philippine Ecowarriors Head & former Senator led the discussion on the importance of preserving, rehabilitation of our threatened marine ecosystem specially coral reef resources are rapidly being degraded and destroyed due to human activities, such as dynamite and cyanide fishing, and over-fishing.

 JCI has signed a long term agreement (MOA) to become partners of Pilipinas Ecowarriors and JCI Davao, JCI Davaoňea Daba Daba, JCI Igacos.
The actual artificial reef-planting of 50 domes will be in the morning of August 20,2012 at Kamudmud Marine Protected Area, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal.
